Hiking in Cloth

Today the four of us went for a hike. There is a mountain near by our house, and no we did not climb that, but climbed through the meadow behind it and up a much smaller hill (1,300 ft compared to 2,600 ft). The hike brought us through meadow, trees, a beaver pond (called the otter pond, without otters), a glacier rock, and many blue and yellow circles reminding us that we were on the right path.
While hiking, little man, picked up many sticks.  The were used for walking and one stuck with him the whole hike (it's in his left hand in this picture).  It was his "bang".    A "bang", is a fancy word for gun.  Last summer (he was 2) we went to a Revolutionary War rifle demonstration.  Little man watched the demonstration, blocked his ears at the appropriate time and then proceeded to pick up a stick, pour gunpowder into the stick (using another stick for the powder) and then yelling, "bang".  He told us it was his "bang".   Thus, the name for guns at our house...I feel this is a lot nicer than the word gun.   Although, now that he is older and wiser he tells me that it is really, "a gun for shooting things".   Awesome.
Anyway, the bang, stayed with us for the whole hike.  He left it by the stonewall at the end of the hike with hopes to find it the next time we were there.   Too cute.

His walking stick(s) varied in size and use.   Some of them were used to chop down trees, (he is not a friend to the forest, apparently), and others were used to point out every single yellow/blue circle,  some were used as a javilin (not our sport) and still others were used as a walking device.

At the end of the hike, we came to the glacier rock, it was quite massive.   Without the use of dynomite it is unmovable.    Little man wanted to climb it.   He was OK with getting his picture taken, walking over some of the outer rocks that had broken off of the big one and telling me, "I'm too big to climb this rock".

Baby bro, spent the afternoon enjoying the views from daddy's back.  He loved touching the bark of the trees and the leaves.  He enjoyed the mountain views from the top of the hill too!   His diaper left a bit of a mark on him, he was sporting a prefold in a econobum cover.   Although he was dry and happy, his diaper left an imprint from sitting in the carrier.
