I love sunshine!

I've decided that sunshine rocks. Granted, I already new some of its perks; it gives you a nice tan in the summer, nice light in the winter, makes you feel better, vitamin D.... and now it cleans diapers!! Seriously! I read on a website that one way to get rid of the technicolor stains on the diapers and get rid of some of the smell is to wash them normally and allow them to dry outside. Seeing that we rent I do not have a traditional clothes line (it's also difficult to get to our backyard--no back door). So, I put the diapers on my portable wooden dryer and set it on the patio in front of our house (how classy). I am sure that the landlords were wondering what I was doing. Of course, being me, I forgot to do an extra cold rinse (to make sure that all the detergent washed out) after I washed the diapers and put them in the sunshine, so I put them back in the washer (after they were already dry) and then put them back outside. They dried quickly and efficiently and they smell great! Whew.

It's going to be interesting to see what happens when it rains or is cloudy or what I am going to do in the winter. I wonder if it works the same with indirect sunlight (ie through a window). I also re-washed the inserts today, they were so stinky, so I put in a 1/4 cup of bleach to help them out. I was going to put them in the sunshine too, but it's really cloudy today. I'll have to watch the sky and see if I can get them out for a little bit. If not I will go back to my ungreen ways and put them in the dryer.
