Converts....

I have managed to convert one of my co-workers to cloth. Her conversion was rather like my own, she did not like the idea of throwing away money and the pollution to the environment. She heard me talking about the ease of use and voila she decided to try with her first born. It was not always smooth sailing, she had issues with stink, issues with fit, and issues with time, but she was persistent and is comfortable with diapering. She still has many questions, but she is doing well! She has also converted her sister to cloth!!

From my conversations with people the biggest question is what about the poo? Personally, I feel that this is probably the worst part of cloth diapering. However, it is usually one time a day or less and with fleece liners it is a relatively easy clean up. There are days that a diaper will magically wait until my husband gets home before it gets dumped in the toilet. There are times where I wish that we had a diaper sprayer, but overall, it isn't that bad. The other big question is laundry, I have not noticed a difference. There are times where I need to plan out my method for doing laundry (ie we need socks and diapers), but typically I wash diapers one day each weekend and 1-2 days during the week.

As far as the laundry goes, I think I need to wash more frequently, due to increased stink. I have tried bleaching the inserts, however, that only works for a few washes before the stink is back. Also, I use Rockin' Green which is known for its de-stinking qualities. I think that my water may be harder than most thus needing a slightly different formula for Rockin' Green (luckily they do make a version for hard and soft water).
