When we moved into our house I noted that we had a lot of brass that needed to be taken care of... There were doorknobs, light fixtures, a chandelier and the fireplaces' surrounds. When we re-did the kitchen this summer we bought new non-brass lights. Soon enough the fireplace looked outdated, especially with the new sconces that are silver or nickel. I found the idea to paint the surrounds on pinterest and bought the appropriate tools (high heat spray paint). Kevin took the surrounds outside and sprayed them one afternoon. They look so much better now. I only took pictures of the before and after of the living room fireplace, (the family room is almost identical, except with more brick). Also the after picture looks smokey because it was a tad smokey in the house after I grilled the pork.
