So, the big question when talking about cloth, is usually, how much do you really save? While it's hard to get it down to the penny, I can give you an idea of what we've spent and how it compares to disposables.
We've spent about $400 on 28 diapers, 1 wrap, 1 large diaper pail wet bag, 1 wet bag for the diaper bag and lots of inserts. We spent $8 on a large tub of powdered soap for the laundry (Sun from Walmart) and it's only 1/4 used so far. $8 on Bio Kleen Spray---works on all stains and yucky smells (even regular clothes!). $8 on Oxi-Clean to help brighten and destinkify. ($424 if you're adding it all up)
So, if you guesstimate that he probably used 1127 diapers so far (in 5 months), 7 diapers a day, and we bought Pampers (in bulk from Amazon), we would have spent $236. So, our diaper investment is about 1/2 paid off.
Have we noticed a difference in the energy bill? Yes. But, I am also a stay-at-home-mom for the time being and that may have something to do with the spike too. Have we noticed a difference in our water bill? No. In our state renters do not pay the water bill, we only pay to heat the hot water.
Wipes are a different story. We use disposable wipes right now. We do have washable wipes that we have used in the past and may use again. We just find that it's hard to keep them wet or have to go wet them prior to use. Suggestions are always appreciated!

Use the washab;e wipes for teh big stuff and touch up with the disposables.
But how do you keep them wet? We'd like to use the washables with a higher frequency, but have the issue of making sure that there's no mold growth...eww!
