We had a busy, post camping, week. Lots of plans and even a pig roast!! The veggies did make a rather yummy appearance a the roast in the form of a cheesy, sliced zucchini biscuit.
This week we received:
1 bag of beans
1 green pepper
1 green pepper--different variety
1 bunch of turnips
1 kousa squash
1 bunch of purslane (really yummy)
1 bunch of basil
1 bunch of spearmint
1 yellow-green squash
2 spring onions
3 ears of corn
2 pickling cucumbers
Below is a picture of the BEST corn ever. Yes it is quite small and slightly dry at the top. Both of these deterrents are due to the current drought we are experiencing. Apparently, corn is somewhat dramatic and really likes rain and will shut down its own production if it feels too dry. Anyway, this corn was super sweet and literally the best corn I have ever eaten. Kevin agreed and Jakoby did too, although he's too young to remember.
Now it is time for everyone's favorite game: Name that vegetable!! Below is a picture of a squash, this squash grows and is harvested in July. It looks good, although we haven't baked with it yet.
