This week:
1 kousa squash
2 pickling cucumbers
1 regular cucumber (I traded my garlic scapes for this)
2 summer squash
1 bunch of arugula
1 bunch of something that begins with a k-- and is similar to spinach
1 head of green leaf lettuce
1 spearmint bunch
1 bunch of turnips
1 bag of peas
We made some of the same dishes that we've made in weeks past (salads, lettuce wraps, stir fry), but we also branched out and made a yummy pasta dish with wilted spinach (well the k stuff). I've learned how to store all of my veggies to ensure the least amount of rotting. I've also learned that I am not a big fan of arugula. I know that it is just lettuce (thanks mom), but it has a flavor that I am not a big fan of. I am not sure what to do with the spearmint other than flavor my tea and water, I've thought about mint jelly... but that seems like a huge endeavor. The farmer e-mailed and said that he has been harvesting some yummy items for next week!

Once I get a job, Chris and I plan on doing a CSA deal too...can't wait!!
PS: Kale.
I know it wasn't kale...it was definitely the same size leaves or slightly smaller than spinach leaves and a slightly different shape. The kale is usually quite longer, leafier and multi-colored :) I wish they had it this week so I could write down the spelling.
