We made resurrection eggs for Easter. Resurrection eggs, basically tell the Easter Story during Holy week. I cut and pasted several ideas (see links above) to make my eggs. By Easter, Little Man could recite almost the whole story. We also read Bible verses that went along with each egg.
1. The first egg is pieces of grass, or palms to signify Jesus' entry to Jerusalem.
2. A piece of tissue with perfume on it-- Mary washes Jesus' feet with the perfume
3. Bread (or a chex cereal) - The last supper
4. 3 coins (we used 1) and a kiss. Jesus was betrayed with a kiss and Judas got money for it. (We then talk briefly about Judas being very sad after and giving the money back, but do not go into the nitty gritty details of how sad he was).
5. A cross, Jesus carried his cross...was sentenced to death on a cross
6. A nail, this was used to nail Jesus to the cross
7. Dice-- The soldiers split up Jesus' clothes by rolling the dice
8. Sponge with vinegar (ours was dry)- Jesus was thirsty on the cross
9. a toothpick (spear) Jesus was "poked" with spear to make sure he had died
10. Rock- The tomb was sealed with a huge stone
11. Spices-- the women brought spices on Sunday to Jesus' body
12. Empty-- The tomb was empty!! (said by a 3 year old with a lot of oomph)
